Der DVfVW ist Mitglied von der Association Internationale de Droit des Assurances /International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA) und bildet ihre deutsche Sektion.
AIDA wurde 1960 mit dem Ziel gegründet, auf internationaler Ebene die wissenschaftliche Beschäftigung mit internationalem und ausländischem nationalen Versicherungsrecht zu fördern,
den internationalen wissenschaftlichen Gedankenaustausch zu stärken und die Kenntnisse über die internationale und ausländische Rechtsentwicklung des Versicherungsrechts zu erhöhen.
