Information about the 9th AIDA Europe Conference

Dear Colleagues

We would like to inform you about the decision of the Organizing Committee for the 9th AIDA Europe Conference in Zurich to re-schedule the conference due to the current developments around the COVID-19 pandemia. We are of course very sad about this but believe that any other decision could not be justified under the circumstances.

The conference would have attracted international delegates from Europe and around the world, which are now restricted from travelling for an undetermined period. Even if lifted, travel restrictions will impact a sound planning of a September conference, resulting in many operational and financial uncertainties.

The « Call for Papers » on the theme «The governance of insurance undertakings between corporate law and insurance», and the related 2nd AIDA Europe Young Authors‘ Award with the Prizes 2020 will, of course, be continued.

The members of the Organizing Committee are all committed to continue with their engagement for a successful conference in 2021. Excellent preparation has been put into the planned conference, which will be a valuable basis for the relaunch in 2021. This is true for organizational issues as well as the preparation of the programme and sessions, much of which may help to structure a relaunched 9th AIDA Europe Conference in Zurich in 2021, for which we have already secured the date – 23/24 September 2021 in the same venue. We hope to see you all then.

Despite the postponment of the 9th AIDA Europe Conference, we are currenty exploring options for an alternative, reduced format for an event on or around September 2020 (such as a virtual event), addressing certain critical issues. Of course, we shall keep you informed. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to visit AIDA Europe’s website and its 9th AIDA Europe Conference section to keep up to date.

With best wishes!

on behalf of the Organizing Committee
